Villamartin & the surrounding Area

The Villamartin Plaza is only a five minute stroll from Villagolf properties and easily accessible from the other properties. It has around twenty international bars and restaurants, plus a supermarket, shops and a bank. During the summer evenings there is a variety of entertainment provided in the Plaza.

If you’re a golfer then what could be better than Villamartin? It’s a championship course and was host to the l994 Mediterranean Open. There are three other major courses within a very short drive; Las Ramblas and Campoamor and now at "La Finca" (Algorfa). First class golf is available at all but each course has a different character.

The Clubhouse at Villamartin is within walking distance and you can use the bar and restaurant even if you are not playing. The Clubhouse and its outside areas have been completely remodelled recently and is extremely attractive with a wide variety of plants pools and parrots giving a  relaxing feel to the gardens.

If golf is not your first passion, Villamartin provides a beautiful backdrop for your holiday......... The local beaches are wide and sandy with water sports being very popular especially at La Zenia during the summer.
A firm favourite with children are the Aquaparks at Torrevieja and Quesada which provide lots of fun in the summer months.

Besides golf and the beaches there is the famous open air market held in Torrevieja, the nearby town, every Friday. You’ll need plenty of time to see it all as it’s huge and sells all types of food, spices, clothing, textiles and plenty more. There is also a Saturday Market in Playa Flamenca which is growing in popularity.
Torrevieja, the closest Spanish town has retained much of its atmosphere and many Spaniards choose to spend their holidays here each year. There is an abundance of good restaurants and bars in the town, providing a lively nightlife and there is also an evening street craft market held most nights. If you're lucky your visit will coincide with one of the many festivals held in the town including the famous Habeneras.

However, if you still feel the need spend a day at a tourist spot then Benidorm is just an hour & a half away by car and a visit to Terra Mitica, the new theme park is a must. The ancient cities of Alicante, Murcia, Elche and Cartagena are much closer and are extremely interesting, well worth visiting if you find the time..

There are marinas in Torrevieja, Cabo Roig and Campoamor, where day fishing or boating trips can be booked if you wish. Tennis and horse riding facilities are nearby.

The salt flats to the west and north of Torrevieja form a nature reserve which is home to flamingos and all sorts of wild life.
